Privacy policy

Effective November 3, 2026

Tokyo Knives operates tokyoknives.com, a website about Japanese kitchen knives and visiting Tokyo. This policy explains how we handle information when you browse the site or contact us. Purchases and bookings made through our affiliate links take place with the external retailer or booking provider.

Information we collect and why

  • Information you send us. Contact, press and bulk-inquiry messages can include your name, email address, organization, telephone number and the details you choose to provide. We use this information to review your request, communicate with you and maintain related correspondence. Please do not send payment-card numbers, passwords, government identification or other sensitive information through these forms.
  • Technical and activity information. Our website platform and connected services process information such as IP address, browser and device details, pages viewed, referral information and interactions with the site. This supports page delivery, security, abuse prevention, site operation and understanding how the website is used.
  • Earlier customer records. If you previously placed an order or created an account directly with Tokyo Knives, contact details, delivery details and order history may remain in our records. We use existing records to address earlier transactions and questions and meet applicable recordkeeping needs.
  • Referral information. Affiliate links identify Tokyo Knives as the referring website. We may receive reports about referrals and commissions. External retailers and booking providers handle the information you give them during purchases or bookings under their own privacy policies.

Shopify and other service providers

Our website is hosted by Shopify. Shopify processes personal information to operate and support the website, including security and platform services. Information submitted to the site is shared with Shopify and the service providers involved in hosting, communications and site operation. These providers may process information in countries other than the country where you live. Read the Shopify Consumer Privacy Policy and visit Shopify’s privacy portal for information and choices concerning Shopify’s processing.

Our website uses Shopify Network Intelligence. Shopify can combine information about your interactions with this website with information from other merchants and Shopify services to provide enhanced services, including personalization and advertising. This can involve sharing information for targeted advertising under some US privacy laws. Shopify’s use of this information is described in its Consumer Privacy Policy linked above. See the request information below if you wish to ask about your information or applicable privacy rights.

Contact-form information is delivered to our designated email inbox. Our email service providers process those communications. Product images and other externally hosted content can also require your browser to connect to the content provider, which receives technical information needed to deliver that content.

Cookies and privacy choices

Cookies and similar technologies support website functions, remember preferences and measure activity. External affiliate services can use referral parameters and cookies after you follow their links. Some third parties may collect information about activity over time and across different websites. The Shopify Cookie Policy describes cookies used by Shopify’s platform.

The website theme includes integrations for Pure Chat, AliReviews/Fireapps and ROI Hunter. These support chat, review-display and advertising features respectively. Which integrations load depends on the page and feature configuration. When they load, these providers can receive browser, device and activity information and may use cookies or similar technologies. Advertising integrations can support remarketing or measurement across websites. Product ratings labeled “Tokyo Knives rating” are our editorial scores, separate from these review-service integrations.

You can use your browser settings to block or delete cookies, although some site features may work differently. These browser choices do not automatically change settings on Amazon, Viator or other websites you visit. The older Do Not Track signal does not change our website’s collection practices. We have not configured an automatic site-wide response to Global Privacy Control signals. To make a privacy request to Tokyo Knives, use the email process below.

Requests about your information

For privacy questions or to request access to, correction of or deletion of information you have provided, email support@tokyoknives.com with “Tokyo Knives privacy request” in the subject. Tell us the email address you used and what you are requesting; do not include sensitive identity documents in your initial message.

Depending on where you live and which laws apply, you may have rights to know or access personal information, obtain a portable copy, correct it, delete it, or opt out of certain sale, sharing or targeted-advertising uses. We review requests under applicable law and may need information to verify identity or authority before disclosing personal information. If you wish to appeal a response where an appeal right applies, reply with “Privacy appeal.” You may also contact the privacy regulator or attorney general in your jurisdiction.

Retention and security

Retention depends on the purpose of the information, the correspondence involved, security and recordkeeping needs, and applicable legal requirements. Information can remain in service-provider systems and backups according to their retention processes. No website, email system or transmission method can be guaranteed completely secure.

Children

This website is intended for a general adult audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly seek personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us so we can review and address the situation.

Changes and contact

We post updates on this page and revise the effective date. We provide additional notice or obtain consent where required before materially different uses of personal information. Contact Tokyo Knives at support@tokyoknives.com about this policy.
